Newcastle fans in the Gallowgate End showed their love for Sandro Tonali on Boxing Day by displaying several Italian flags, while the ex-Milan midfielder said he ‘couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas with this team.’

Tonali and Newcastle showed mutual love on Boxing Day during and after a 3-0 win over Aston Villa at St. James Park.

As journalist Jordan Cronin showed on X, formerly Twitter, home fans showed their love for the ex-Milan star by putting up some Italian flags in the Gallowgate End.

Tonali put in a positive performance for the Magpies and reacted to Newcastle’s victory with an Instagram message: “Boxing Day with this team, couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas,” said the Italy international.

Tonali has been linked with a return to Serie A, but his agent insisted that the 24-year-old is happy at Newcastle and in the Premier League.
