Official: Milan hire Conceicao as new coach to replace Fonseca
Multiple sources in Italy had claimed that Conceiçao would have signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for a further campaign. However, the Rossoneri announced that the new coach’s deal will run straight to 2026.
Sky Sport insists that Milan can terminate Conceiçao’s contract at the end of the current season.
Conceiçao landed in Milan in the afternoon to replace the sacked Paulo Fonseca.
The Serie A giants had confirmed Fonseca’s dismissal with a brief official statement this morning.
Several Italian sources claim Milan and Conceiçao had reached an agreement a few days ago, meaning that Fonseca would have been sacked evem if the Rossoneri had beaten Roma on Sunday night.
Fonseca thanked Milan fans for their “support and respect” and said goodbye to the team at Milanello this morning.
Conceiçao will lead his first Milan training session tomorrow before a trip to Saudi Arabia, where the Rossoneri will meet Juventus in the Supercoppa semifinal on January 3.
